The old traditions of golf continue to get pushed further and further in the rearview and we’re not disappointed by that. Devereux Golf is one of the brands leading the charge of bringing more style to golf apparel and they do it pretty darn well if you ask us. With a very recognizable skull brand logo and a lot of other eye-catching elements, wearing Devereux will definitely turn heads.

How Stylish Is The Devereux Golf Brand?

Brand Aesthetic

Devereux Golf’s brand style starts with its logo – a skull wearing lightning bolt visor. Is this a traditional golf brand look? Absolutely not. Do we mind? Absolutely not. Devereux is one of the many brands trying to break golf away from the old country club style and they come out of the gate hot with a Harley-esque brand logo.

The brand goes even further with their ”Lucky” golf ball character who is reminiscent of Towlie from South Park. In general, Devereux Golf seems to get near the line of irreverence, but they never really cross it. They have some more traditional pieces on their site as well, but they’ve definitely leaned into the higher style, tongue and cheek designs.

Type of Style

Devereux’s style is geared towards a younger golf audience – probably the millennial crowd or younger primarily. They certainly wouldn’t be considered country-club chic, but its hard to put a finger on exactly what you would call it. Its kind of a cross between trendy-punk and retro-streetwear.

This style would not be something you would wear to your grandfather’s country club, but we don’t think the guys at Devereux would apologize for that. They seem to be eager to get more self expression out on the links than having everyone look exactly the same like in years past. If trendy clothes are the path to growing the game of golf then that is A-OK with us.

Variety of Style

Devereux Golf core style is that urban-streetwear, pop-punk thing they have going on, but they do have some versatility as well. Some polos look more like European soccer uniforms, they have floral prints and they also lean into some cartoonish branding across t-shirts and sweats.

Devereux’s style might not be for everyone, but it seems to us like they really know their target audience. They stretch their style a little bit here and there but if you are a golfer that likes expressive outfits that won’t get confused for Ralph Lauren, Devereux might be a good brand for you to check out. 4.5/5 stars for Style.

How Does Devereux Golf Brand Clothing Fit?

Tops

We tried two different types of Devereux Golf tops for our review of the brand. Polos and a hoodie. We bought two different types of polos to see if there was any difference in fit from their more traditional look and their more stylish ones.

Overall, we didn’t find much of a difference in fit across the polos we tried (Whiskey Tango & Riviera). We’re not huge people here at Bogey Buddy, but we noticed that the fit was a little larger than we would expect when ordering our standard size of medium (this is called out on the website). The seam of the shoulder hit a little beyond our shoulder and the chest and belly had plenty of breathing room. The oversizing seems to be intentional consistent with what you see in streetwear fashions.

Another nuance that we noticed while trying on was the collar opening also seems to be designed to be buttoned all the way up Bubba Watson style. That’s also more of a urban style sort of thing, but, being short, this isn’t a look that we love personally. We’d prefer to have something that works both unbuttoned and buttoned as we’re not part of the brave who button all the way to the top.

We also picked up a slub hoodie as part of our review purchase and, similarly, it was a little oversized in its fit in the shoulders. Again, this seems to be intentional by Devereux so if you like loose-fitting and slightly longer looks, you will like the way their tops fit.

Bottoms

We did not try on any Bottoms as part of our Devereux purchase. They did not have any purchaser reviews of their shorts on the pieces we looked at. It seems like the brand’s bread and butter is in Tops especially the polos, but we will be sure to update this post if more information comes our way.

Accessories

We did picked up Devereux Golf’s signature ”G*LF” hat as part of our review. This really felt like it had solid construction and reminded us of a classic New Era style snapback. There’s not much to mess up with a one size fits all hat, but we liked the way this lid landed on our sizable dome.

Devereux also sells sock on their website, but we didn’t include those as part of this review. While this brand doesn’t fit us super well since we’re a bit shorter and stockier than average, it does seem to have a consistent fit which is what is more important to us. If you like things to be a little oversized, you’ll probably like the way Devereux Golf’s polos and sweatshirts fit. 4/5 stars for Fit.

Is the Devereux Golf Brand Clothing High Quality?

Brand Reputation

Devereux Golf has a growing reputation as a brand to keep an eye on especially for the younger crowd of golfers. They have over 20K followers on Instagram at the time of this writing and that is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Their website home page also cites a bunch of features at very well-known publications. This list includes, but is not limited to Men’s Health, Men’s Journal, Golf.com, Golf Digest & Esquire. The piece in Golf Digest is a feature on Dexeruex’s partnership with Michelob Ultra and they definitely seem like their brand awareness is on the upswing.

Construction

The construction of the Devereux Golf polos seems to be pretty standard. This brand is about affordable style than high-quality construction and it does show a little bit upon closer inspection of their pieces. We don’t mind giving a little in this area since the priority for this brand is style.

That said, we have no doubt that Devereux’s pieces will get you through more than their fair share of days out on the links. If style is what you’re after you’ll find it here. Just don’t expect to be wearing these polos for the next decade.

Material

At first touch, the polo materials felt pretty nice to us. Good amount of stretch that is very common in any sort of athletic performance wear and even everyday apparel these days. They feel maybe a touch thin to us, but not so much so that we’re going to have a hole in the pit after ripping a drive.

These polos are 92% Polyester and 8% Spandex which means they probably won’t be quite as breathable than a more natural fiber like cotton. We do think this is somewhat offset by how thin they feel and we certainly didn’t feel like these guys we’re going weigh us down on a hot day. 3.5/5 stars for Quality

Are Clothing Items From Devereux Golf Brand Good Value?

For younger gents that are looking for a golf brand that puts the priority on style, Devereux is a really good brand. At the time of this writing their polos came in under $70 with some even under $65. For a brand that invests so much in their styling and frequently updates offerings, we think that’s a really good bargain for what you’re getting.

While we didn’t get to try everything that Devereux Golf has to offer, perusing their website shows reasonable prices across pretty much everything they sell. Their shorts looked especially reasonable coming in under $60 a pop at the time of this writing. 5/5 stars for Value.

Final Thoughts on the Devereux Golf Brand:

Overall, we recommend Devereux Golf to any golfers that like streetwear style. We found the brand to be consistent in the way it fits, delivers on their streetwear style promise and fairly priced across their entire lineup of products.

Devereux Golf will be a brand to watch especially as golf turns its back on traditional country club styling. We would not be surprised if we saw someone participating in LIV golf or even the PGA Tour to be rocking a polo with skulls dotted all over it sometime in the near future. Until then though, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more Devereux at our local munis.
